Service types

Air conditioning repair

Cooling that is weak, short-cycling, frozen, or not running.

Questions to ask

  • Is the indoor coil frozen, and was the filter and airflow checked before parts were quoted?
  • What refrigerant does the system use, and is a leak search included?
  • Is the repair a part replacement or a sign the system is near the end of its life?

Heating repair

Furnaces, heat pumps, and boilers that will not start or will not stay lit.

Questions to ask

  • Was the heat exchanger, flue, or combustion air inspected?
  • Are you being quoted a part that is still manufactured for this model?
  • Is the home without heat, and what temporary option exists if the repair waits on a part?

HVAC installation and replacement

Replacing a condenser, air handler, furnace, heat pump, or a matched system.

Questions to ask

  • Was the load calculated for this house, or is the new unit the same nominal size as the old one?
  • Are the ducts being reused as-is, sealed, or resized?
  • What efficiency rating is specified, and is that the installed system or a brochure figure?

Seasonal maintenance

A scheduled check of airflow, condensate, electrical connections, and combustion where it applies.

Questions to ask

  • What is on the checklist, and do you get a copy?
  • Are refrigerant gauges connected on every visit, or only when there is a symptom?
  • Does a maintenance plan auto-renew, and what does it exclude?

For homeowners

  • Filter size, a blocked return, and a collapsed duct can look like a failed compressor. Ask what was ruled out.
  • Matched indoor and outdoor equipment is a normal specification topic. A new condenser on an old coil is a different job from a matched pair.
  • Efficiency ratings compare equipment under a test procedure. They are not a promise of a dollar savings on a particular house.
